Research Topics


1. Taxonomical study of Indo-Australian water mites
Studies have been conducted on water mites of Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia. Now mainly working on Australian water mites, collected in Northern Territory (1994), Western Australia (1994, 1998), Victoria (1997) and Tasmania (1997). In 1999 a collecting trip has been made to southern Argentina, and in 2000 to NE-Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji and New Zealand and in 2001 to South Australia and New South Wales.
2. Standard work on water mites for Europe
Together with Dr C. Davids, Dr H. van der Hammen, Dr R. Gerecke, Dr A. di Sabatino and Dr T. Gledhill a new standard work is planned for Central, Western and Northern Europe. My part of the  job is the genus Arrenurus, and the families Pontarachnidae and Piersigiidae.
3. Distribution atlas of water mites for The Netherlands
A distribution atlas of The Netherlands has been published in 2000, together with Dr H van der Hammen and in 2001 to
South Australia and New South Wales..
